CASE STUDY: FILTRATION MIXING VESSEL

Problem

Breweries often struggle with dust problems caused by diatomaceous earth or other filter aids, especially when preparing or transferring in open systems. The main problems are:

  • Health risks for employees due to respirable fine dust
  • Risk of cross-contamination in the production environment
  • Compliance with fine dust limits (TRGS 900) from occupational safety regulations
  • Explosion hazard with fine organic dust in enclosed spaces

Challenge

  • Fine, light dust that is quickly stirred up when moved
  • Open handling and manual dosing of diatomaceous earth, which is problematic
  • Air that is too dry promotes dust formation
  • High costs for complex extraction or filter technology

Solution Bete

BETE uses the finest atomizing nozzles to enable micro-humidificaKon without soaking the product. We create targeted mist and spray barriers at criKcal transfer points and select suitable nozzles for maximum dust binding with minimum water consumpKon

Special features

In one specific case, a company was manually processing diatomaceous earth in an open container, which resulted in significant dust. An extraction system was not financially feasible. BETE installed a fine spray mist barrier around the filling opening with HA atomizing nozzles that produce fine droplets of less than 50 microns. These droplets bound the dust and brought it to the ground. Water consumption was less than 1 l/h.

The result:

  • No more measurable dust emissions in the work area
  • Compliance with regulatory limits
  • Significantly lower investment and maintenance costs than with extraction systems
  • Sustainable improvement in employee protection
